Gerações Douro Tinto is a wine of great aromatic complexity of red Douro fruits. The 2015 has a lot of grip and power, with an explosion of different red fruits such as raspberries, blackberries and cherries, and a smooth persistence for a delicious aftertaste.
A field blend of over 30 Douro red varieties from old vineyards throughout the region. Van Zellers & Co. 15 Generations Douro Red reflects the different terroirs that have produced the greatest Port and Douro wines over the centuries.
The grapes for all our Douro reds are crushed by foot in old granite lagares for 24 hours, then fermented in 5,000kg stainless steel tanks for 8-12 days. After racking and pressing, the wine is aged in new 225-litre French oak barrels for one to two years, until the bottling date indicated on the label.
It promises to age beautifully in bottle for many years.
