O Produtor, tasting note published in May 15th 2022

Terroir Sense Fronteres Guix Vermell Negre 2017 is a smooth red wine with expressive aromas of black and red berries, graphite notes and sweet and exotic spicy touches. On the palate it is varietal, fresh and very lively. A well-balanced wine with vibrant acidity and noble tannins. The finish is long, persistent and mineral. The top wine in this collection and one of the most celebrated in the world.

Terroir Sense Fronteres

Terroir Sense Fronteres Guix Vermell Negre is a clay-aged red wine made by Terroir Sense Fronteres with the Garnacha Tinta grape variety in the D.O. Montsant (Catalonia).

A lover of the Priorat, Dominik Huber has worked to recover a winemaking style where the grape, the terroir and the climate are the real protagonists. This is a return to the old way of doing things, where Huber bought a vineyard by chance during his purchase of a plot in the neighbouring D.O. Montsant, understanding that here he could make his wines without so many restrictions and achieve more freshness and lightness. This is how his four Terroir Sense Fronteres wines are made.
In the winery, the Terroir Sense Fronteres Guix Vermell Negre grapes are left whole without destemming. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts in terracotta jars. Maceration lasts between 7 and 8 days and finally the wine ages in these clay jars for about 6 months.

Inspired by plaster (guix) and red clay (vermell) soils, the Terroir Sense Fronteres Guix Vermell Black wine is vinified following the ancient Burgundy wine-making traditions to capture the maximum expression of the terroir. A fresh, smooth wine with a powerful elegance.
