The year 2001 marked the first harvest of Tecedeiras. In 2021, 20 years after the first harvest, with this special blend we want to celebrate with you the success of one of the first Douro wine brands that started its journey in the creation of still wines.

Terroir
Co-fermentation of all the best plots of the Tecedeiras.

Vinification
Manual harvesting. Manual choice of clusters. De-stemming and light crushing of berries. The grapes fermented in granite presses using foot treading. The wine then aged in French oak barrels for 19 months. After the blend formation, a light colage was carried out, followed by bottling. The wine rested for 1 year before being commercialised. All our wines are sealed with natural cork. The wines are not filtered or stabilised by cold and therefore may give rise to a precipitate with ai dity.

Lima & Smith

It was in 2011 that Marcelo Lima, a Brazilian businessman, and Tony Smith, ex-journalist and correspondent, got together to buy Quinta de Covela, once owned by filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira, but which had been abandoned for two years. The purchase was the fulfilment of a dream for both of them. The previous team joined the challenge, including winemaker Rui Cunha, and the will to do more and better was more than visible.

In the vinho verde region, Lima & Smith operates Quinta de Covela, in certified organic production, in an area which is the birthplace of the Avesso grape variety, recognised for the quality of its whites and rosés. In the demarcated Douro region, it produces wines under the brand Tecedeiras, a brand with history in the Douro. In the Douro Verde, thanks to its partnership with the Eça de Queiroz Foundation, Lima & Smith produces a classic Tormes vinho verde in tribute to the writer.
