O Produtor, tasting note published in March 18th 2024

With four grape varieties of great character, the Villae red is a distinctive blend, forming what we might call a "perfect marriage". Tinta Roriz gives it structure and muscle, Jaen brings out its natural verve, Alfrocheiro brings minerality and Tinta Pinheira shows forest and woodland aromas.

Taboadella

The Villae wines are blends without wood that highlight the character of Taboadella. Intense, they are delicately perfumed, lighter, with soft tannins and refreshing acidity.

The temperature variations during the summer of 2022, in perfectly adapted and established vineyards, combined with the richness of underground water, provided a balanced maturation process, resulting in exceptional grape quality. These particular conditions of Taboadella’s microclimate allowed us to produce wines with a profile and richness that reflect the unique terroir from which they originate.

Vinification: 100% destemmed by vibration. Fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks (70%) and Nico Velo cement Tulips (30%) for 16 months.
Bottling: March 2024.

Winemakers: Jorge Alves & Rodrigo Costa.
Viticulture: Ana Mota.

Taboadella

The connection of the Amorim family to wine dates back to 1870, through its first business in the production of cork stoppers for the Port Wine Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Today it is one of the most prominent family groups in Portugal, extending its business in several countries of the world in different sectors of activity.
Since 1999, the fourth generation has been developing the wine business through the hands of Luisa Amorim, working in estates of excellence where the vine and wine have ancestral roots and a deep cultural sense: in the Douro, in Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and now in Dão, in Taboadella, creating wines with an extraordinary character, coming from unique places.
