O Produtor, tasting note published in June 28th 2022

Touriga Nacionalis the international icon of Portuguese grape varieties originating in the region where it best expresses itself, the Dão. In Taboadella it is a variety that shines in the soil and we believe to have a great example of its natural acidity in this exceptional terroir that we
allows us to detect the violets that populate the aroma in our memory in complementarity with the high notes of black spice and the quartzite aroma of wet granite, in a surprising complexity.

2020 HARVEST
From 08 September to 03 October In 2020, spring was brought forward to the months of January and February. The technical team’s decision to delay the cycle by pruning in March was the right one, thus avoiding production losses in the face of the late April frosts that occurred in the demarcated Dão region. During the spring there was above normal rainfall, which proved to be very positive in restoring the desired water levels in the soil and for the perfect development of the rest of the vegetative cycle. The summer was hot, anticipating the harvest. Balanced ripeness and very concentrated musts. This harvest proved to be generous in terms of quantity and quality of grapes. All the refined technical work and knowing how to wait for the right moment, taking into account the search for the best natural balance, combined with careful control of the phenolic ripeness of the grapes, allowed us to create unique wines. The generous fruit, precision, complexity and high concentration, combined with the elegance and fluidity of the musts, have enabled us to produce wines with a profile and richness that mirror the unique terroir that gave rise to them

Taboadella

The connection of the Amorim family to wine dates back to 1870, through its first business in the production of cork stoppers for the Port Wine Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Today it is one of the most prominent family groups in Portugal, extending its business in several countries of the world in different sectors of activity.
Since 1999, the fourth generation has been developing the wine business through the hands of Luisa Amorim, working in estates of excellence where the vine and wine have ancestral roots and a deep cultural sense: in the Douro, in Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and now in Dão, in Taboadella, creating wines with an extraordinary character, coming from unique places.
