Revista de Vinhos, tasting note published in November 22nd 2023

The nose reveals all the ambition put into its conception. Still young, the overall architecture is robust and refined. The tannin is full-bodied, acidity and nerve well sustained by the enormous structure. The finish is endless, indicating its potential for aging. Decant it now or cellar it.

Servas de Bacchus

The unique terroir of the old vineyard of Clérigo allowed, in 2016, to immortalize the work of several generations in a bottle. After a few weeks of monitoring, ripening culminated with the harvest on September 22, 2016, when a field blend harvest of Trincadeira, Castelão, and Alicante-Bouschet varieties was carried out. After total destemming, foot treading in a marble lagar was performed for 48 hours to enhance pre-fermentation skin contact. Fermentations took place in 10 new spin barrels made of French oak, with a capacity of 500L, followed by two weeks of maceration.

The aging process lasted for 24 months in new French oak barrels of 225L. It was bottled in May 2019 and matured for 4 and a half years until its release to the market in 2023. Subjected to tastings over the years, the wine proved its great aging potential.

A very limited edition of 3600 bottles.

Serrano Mira

Serrano Mira is the surname resulting from the union of two families who have been producing wine in Alentejo for 13 generations. Serrano Mira is also the name of the wine group led by Luis Serrano Mira, which includes the Alentejo estate Herdade das Servas and Casa da Tapada in the Vinhos Verdes region.

Luis Serrano Mira was born into a family of producers with a strong connection to rural property and wine. He grew up observing their practices and proudly paying attention to the teachings passed down by great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents. From an early age, he became aware that nothing is achieved without hard work and sacrifice. He believes that dedication and commitment are key factors for the quality and consistency of a project, reaching their highest potential when there is a symbiosis between inherited knowledge and innovations introduced in the present. He considers this to be the mark of his time and the legacy he is leaving for future generations.

The Serrano Mira family’s connection to this universe dates back to the year 1667, as evidenced by two amphorae that have been passed down from generation to generation. This heritage, upon reaching the hands of Luis Serrano Mira, inspired him to conduct an exhaustive historical survey, portrayed and documented in the book “The History of Vine and Wine in Alentejo – Legacy of a Family Producing Since 1667.” These two wine vessels have eight-pointed stars engraved on them, now used in the Serrano Mira logo, symbolizing good fortune, regeneration, abundance, and protection of crops, as well as truth and hope.
