O Produtor, tasting note published in June 28th 2021
Deep ruby colour. Nose excellent aromatic complexity, with notes of very clean red fruits, elegant spices and soft balsamic notes. In the mouth it starts in a very elegant way, evolving to a wine of excellent volume and structure composed by tannins of velvety texture. A very involving wine, which ends very fresh and persistent.
All the grapes are harvested manually and come exclusively from the sub-region of Cima Corgo and the sub-region of Douro Superior. On arrival at the winery, they pass through the sorting table where a meticulous selection is made; they are then destemmed, gently crushed and transferred to stainless steel fermentation vats with a truncated cone shape, where they start alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. During the fermentation process, the French “délestage” technique is used, which, when carried out in Trochocone shaped tanks, has the main purpose of increasing the pellicular contact surface when the must/wine is leached over the masses (cap). As a result, a concentrated and complex wine is obtained, which respects elegance and eschews rusticity.
The Roquette & Cazes wine was aged in French oak barrels, where it remained for around 18 months.

Roquette & Cazes
The Roquette & Cazes project is above all a meeting of two friends: Jorge Roquette from Quinta do Crasto and Jaen-Michel Cazes from Château Lynch-Bages.
In 2002, the two families decided to create a company to produce great wines that were marked by the natural characteristics of the Douro and the experience of Cazes who have been making wines in Bordeaux for about a century.
A wine adventure “To make a great wine with the Douro grape varieties, a wine that shows structure and complexity, that possesses the power and the sun of Portugal combined with the elegance of Bordeaux”, said Jaen-Michel Cazes as part of this adventure.
