O Produtor, tasting note published in September 20th 2016

Produced with Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacionalgrape varieties. Time doubles the balance of this red wine. It is ready to seduce. Opaque ruby colour, aromatic, sour cherry and slight note of evolution, with some leather. Very full-bodied, very dry, some freshness, but with elegance. Ample and persistent, with well integrated wood, a very pleasant set.

Romano Cunha

The collaboration between two esteemed winemakers, the Spanish Raúl Pérez and the Portuguese Mario Romano Cunha, has resulted in a masterpiece that transcends borders. Their dedication and expertise are reflected in this wine, demonstrating that Trás-os-Montes, a region near Mirandela in Northern Portugal, is capable of producing wines that rival the best in the world.

“The blend of Tinta Roriz/Tinta Amarela/Touriga Nacional (…) impressed me. Raúl Pérez is a consultant for Romano Cunha, and just as he did in Bierzo, this pioneering Spanish winemaker has pushed the boundaries of quality for Trás-os-Montes. Having previously sold his wine in bulk, Mário Romano Cunha now produces a third wine with the high-quality eponymous label, which is only released after significant bottle aging.

With rigorous viticulture, he ‘enslaves’ the vines to minimize yields and maximize concentration, pruning one kilo per vine for reds and only 300 to 500 grams for whites. Mature and sensual, with beautiful fruit depth, balance, and length, Romano Cunha’s wines are built to age” – Sarah Ahmed, Wine Detective investigates Trás-os-Montes, Revista de Vinhos

Romano Cunha

A work of art by a great oenologist, the Spaniard Raul Perez, and the winemaker Mario Romano Cunha, who on his property, with his zeal and much wisdom, shows the world that Tras-os-Montes (very close to Mirandela, in the North) produces wines that can be compared with the best wines in the world.
