Rubi. Great nose - lots of fruit and some black pepper. Very balanced, it will pair with red meats. 4,5 stars!

Ribeiro Santo

Region: The D.O.C. Dão region is one of the oldest Wine Regions of Portugal, which goes back to 1908. Located in central Portugal in a mountainous region ranging from 400 to 700m above sea level, this region as its reference point at the mountain Serra da Estrela, the highest in mainland Portugal’s. Its name comes from the river that crosses the Region, the river Dão. The characteristics of the wines are strongly influenced by the granitic terrain and the fact that the vines are inserted in forests with pines, eucalyptus and oak trees.

Vineyard: The vineyard is planted following the traditional plantation methods, in poor ground granite soils, with large rocky outcrops, where you can have a magnificent perspective of the highness of the Mountain Serra da Estrela. The entire vineyard is planted following an integrated Production System, which demonstrates a great concern with the environmental issues. The combination of the cultural practices associated with the judicious use of organic products that respect the environment, give origin to balanced productions.

Vinification: The harvest took place in the second week of September. The grapes were picked up by hand, into small boxes of 18Kg, according to a careful selection of the best grapes in the vineyard. The grapes were totally destemmed into small stainless steel “lagares”, where they macerated for 24h at low temperature, before starting the fermentation at controlled temperature. The fermentation lasted about 15 days, with gentle pumping for a good extraction of color and aromas. After the fermentation, the wine was transferred to new French oak barrels, previously used for white wine fermentation.

Magnum - Carlos Lucas

Magnum Vinhos is born of 3 people who have long been connected to the world of wine. Although with different initial routes, since 1996 Carlos Lucas and Carlos Rodrigues have been making wines together, joining the group in 2005 Lúcia Freitas. The story, which does not go away, takes this team to Dão Sul, one of the biggest wine companies in Portugal, where they were the winemaking team since the beginning of the project led by Carlos Lucas. There they were responsible for making white, red, rosé and sparkling wines from the most prestigious regions of the country (Dão, Douro, Alentejo, Bairrada, Lisbon and Vinho Verde). Among all the wines produced, Quinta das Tecedeiras, Quinta do Encontro, Quinta de Cabriz and Casa de Santar stand out. Besides the Portuguese wines, they were also responsible for the oenology of wines in Brazil, in the well known Rio Sol winery. They were 20 years of conquests, creation and innovation.
In 2011, they decided to embrace a new project. Taking Quinta do Ribeiro Santo, property of Carlos Lucas, located in the Dão region and the Baton wines of Lúcia Freitas, from the Douro, they laid the foundations for Magnum Vinhos. With the construction of a new winery in Dão and an excellent acceptance of the wines in the national and international market, as well as by the press, they conquered in 2014 the highest distinction of agriculture: the prize of farmer of the year, awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture of Portugal This is a project that combines the experience, knowledge and irreverence of these 3 winemakers, with the intention of showing the best of each of the regions where they work, through wines that respect the terroir, the tradition and the
Portuguese castes.

Each bottle produced tells a story. Each wine reflects the passion, work, emotions and dedication placed in it, thus explaining the company’s signature Wine & People”.
