O Produtor, tasting note published in March 25th 2019
Bright ruby colour wine, with aromas of fresh fruit, small forest berries and balsamic notes, complexed by soft smoked notes of well integrated wood. In the mouth it reveals remarkable freshness, structure with fine and elegant tannins and a finish that ends long and with remarkable persistence.
The Touriga Nacional grapes were harvested from the “Porto Olho Vineyard”, planted in 2012, with 0.92 ha and Northwest-Southeast sun exposure. The Pinot Noir grapes were harvested from the “Todo-o-Mundo Vineyard”, planted in 2012 with 0.54 ha and North-South sun exposure, and the “Bem-Amado Vineyard”, planted in 2014 with 1.49 ha and East-West sun exposure. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils.
Vinification: Rigorous selection of bunches and berries performed on 100% of the grapes. Fermentation in lagares with pre-fermentation maceration. Aged for 12 months in Séguin Moreau French oak barrels.
Vineyards: In 2017, the vineyards located at Quinta do Porto Nogueira were cultivated under sustainable farming practices certified by the “Integrated Production Standards”. Currently, these vineyards are managed under organic production methods.

Casa Romana Vini
In the lands that today constitute Quinta do Porto Nogueira and Quinta da Escusa, the family began to plant vineyards, privileging the terroirs once occupied by old vines, always with the objective of producing exceptional grapes and making unique wines, originated in Quinta Nogueira , Quinta da Escusa and Quinta da Página. Quinta do Porto Nogueira is located in Alguber, in the municipality of Cadaval, about 70 km west of Lisbon. In the first half of the eighteenth century, it was always owned by the same family and was donated to the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, around 1980. Since 2004 it is a Romana Vini estate. Quinta da Escusa is located in Senhora da Escusa, in the municipality of Rio Maior, about 70 km northeast of Lisbon, between the villages of Quintas and Vale Barco. Part of the Quinta da Escusa estate belonged to the grandparents and parents of the current owners who, over the decades, exercised agriculture and viticulture. The secular house of Quinta do Porto Nogueira is set against the Roman Bridge over the Arnóia river, which would be the passage of the Roman road that linked Collippo (near Leiria) to Eburobrittium (Óbidos) and that followed to Olisipo (Lisbon). The bridge is testimony to the presence of the Romans in the region and inspired the name Romana Vini, Family Winery.
