Quinta dos Castelares

The grapes that give origin to this Quinta dos Castelares Reserva Red Wine, are a “field blend” of old vines planted in terraces on the edge of the Douro, combined with grapes from the highest vineyards of Quinta dos Castelares, in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in the Upper Douro, at an altitude between 500-600 meters.
With the aim of obtaining the necessary balance to a wine that we want full-bodied, but with an elegant profile. Schist soils, vineyards in terraces with a dominant North-North-east orientation. Manual harvesting. Total destemming followed by crushing. The grapes are fermented by grape variety and vineyard parcel, with the aim of making a selection that allows a better final result. Fermentation in small capacity stainless steel vats, at a temperature of 24ºC. Controlled and gentle maceration, in order to obtain concentrated, aromatic and elegant wines. Aged for 12 months in barrels.
