O Produtor, tasting note published in May 15th 2024

It's a warm wine, with the typical character of the Douro Superior. Aroma of ripe wild fruits, with notes of rockrose and spices, and discreet floral notes.

Very complex and elegant, with fine and smooth tannins and good mouthfeel, making it very gastronomic.

Quinta dos Castelares

The grapes that resulted in this Quinta dos Castelares Colheita Tinto come from a combination of vineyards terraced along the river with the high vineyards of Quinta dos Castelares, located in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in the Douro Superior, at an altitude between 500-600 meters.

The soils are schistous with high rockiness. The vineyard is planted on double bard terraces and high trellises. Dominant orientation: North-Northeast. Manual harvesting. Upon reception, complete destemming and immediate crushing; the grapes are fermented by variety in order to achieve a rigorous selection that will then give rise to the “blend.” Fermentation takes place in small capacity stainless steel tanks, with temperatures around 24°C. Gentle and controlled macerations are performed to obtain elegant and aromatic wines.
