O Produtor, tasting note published in May 15th 2021

Deep garnet coloured wine, with an aroma of ripe black fruit, some fresh tobacco mixed with cocoa notes and the light toast of barrel aging. Silky texture, dense and firm, with the tannin structure providing the longevity and persistence.

Quinta dos Castelares

Each grape variety was vinified and aged separately. Fermentation in temperature controlled lagares, slight manual pumping over with alternating mechanical treading. Care was taken to avoid excessive extraction of tannins. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques and in a spontaneous way. Aged for 70% in new 225L French oak barrels and 30% in new American oak barrels. After 18 months ageing, the final blend was bottled, with only light filtration.
