O Produtor, tasting note published in August 23rd 2022
Wine from a vineyard in Quinta do Monte Xisto facing east. With an open and not very intense colour, we enter in a spring field with several nuances of fruits and flowers, with cherry and myrtle
myrtle flower. We continue towards the East and find other more exotic smells such as incense, nutmeg and Indian saffron. In the mouth, the sensation is fresh and soft showing shape and body. We finish with an elegant, fruity and spicy finish and extremely well oriented!
Quinta do Monte Xisto Oriente is a wine made from two small parcels exposed to the East. Its exposure and grape varieties give rise to a fresh and light wine, less saturated in color, with great elegance and notes of spices. One of the parcels is Tinto Cão and the other is Tinta Francisca.
The grapes were hand-harvested and transported to the winery, located in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in 20kg boxes. The fermentation took place in cement tanks using indigenous yeasts. This was followed by an aging period of 18 months in 600-liter barrels in the warehouse in Vila Nova de Gaia, near the sea, with excellent temperature and humidity conditions.
