It comes from over 20 grape varieties, in a field blend, in old vines; in younger vines, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Roriz are the predominant grape varieties. All vineyards are cultivated in certified integrated production, seeking to minimize negative impacts on the environment.

Vinification: Grapes transported in 20 kg boxes. Mechanical crushing with partial destemming. Fermentation in lagares with foot treading. Indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aging in tanks and new and used French oak barrels. Bottling at the estate, without fining or filtration, on September 1st, 2011. 198 magnums, all numbered.

Quinta do Infantado

The history of Quinta do Infantado is already long, since its creation in 1816. Established for Infante D. Pedro, future King D. Pedro IV of Portugal and D. Pedro I of Brazil, it has been in the possession of the Roseira family for over a century. Located about 4km from Pinhão, in the unique terroir of the Gontelho Valley, a micro-region long famous for the quality of its wines.
For six generations, the “Roseira” family of Covas do Douro have lived with passion and enthusiasm a life of vineyards and wines.
The first two generations only cultivated the vines. With the purchase of Quinta do Infantado, João Lopes Roseira began the production of fortified wine.
In 1979, his sons Luís and António, based on the concepts of terroir and vigneron, began to bottle the Ports from their production, thus realizing the family’s dream. With this innovation, Quinta do Infantado became the first producer to bottle Port wine, breaking the monopoly of the merchants of Vila Nova de Gaia.
After their death, their heirs continue to seek maximum quality and maintain the course of innovating in tradition.
