Quinta do Côtto
A DOC Douro wine of great historical significance, produced from grapes sourced from a single vineyard parcel of the Sousão variety. The 1961 harvest marked the beginning of high-quality wine production in the Douro.
Viticulture
Grapes from a parcel planted in 2001, in schist soil, with the Sousão variety and a west-facing exposure.
Winemaking
Fermentation with whole clusters in a stainless steel lagares with temperature control. 16 days of maceration, starting with foot treading, later replaced by gentle work on the cap. Pressing near the end of alcoholic fermentation, followed by aging in barrels. 12 months of aging in two used French oak barrels and one Portuguese oak barrel, before bottling.
