Ruby in colour, with hints of violet. Fresh aroma, with notes of black fruit and a slight smokiness from the wood. Smooth but expressive on the palate. Its polished tannins combined with good acidity persist in the mouth in a balanced and elegant way.
The grapes that gave rise to Quinta de Pancas Red come exclusively from the vineyards of Quinta de Pancas, located in Alenquer. The vineyards are located in a sequence of hills and valleys, protected by the Serra de Montejunto. The soils are neutral clay-limestone with a fine texture. The climate is Mediterranean with an Atlantic influence. These vineyards are mostly located in the higher areas of the property, giving the grapes greater acidity and consequently fresher wines.
The grapes were transported to the winery and processed immediately. After total destemming and very gentle crushing, each variety was vinified separately, with a daily regime of 2 manual pumping over during alcoholic fermentation, which took place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26ºC. The wines were aged in wood for 9 months.
