Quinta de Chocapalha
Three generations come together today in the field and cellar work, in a project that values what is genuine, respects tradition, our culture, and identity, while embracing modernity. Chocapalha’s wines reflect the passion for the unique terroir of the Quinta, whose natural freshness comes from the morning dew, called “Invisible Rain,” and the meticulous work carried out in the field and cellar. This combination results in fresh, balanced, and elegant wines with excellent aging potential.
The Castelão Quinta de Chocapalha comes from 31-year-old vines planted in clay-limestone soils. The grapes, previously destemmed, underwent pre-fermentation maceration at low temperatures for 12 hours. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, with temperature control not exceeding 25°C, for 10 days. The wine aged 50%, for 15 months, in French oak barrels of second and third use.
