Quinta de Arcossó
Quinta de Arcossó Superior Bago a Bago red wine is crafted in Arcossó – Vidago, within the Ribeira de Oura sub-region, from a 10.5-hectare parcel integrated into a 12-hectare vineyard planted in 2003. Set on a wide south-facing slope at an average altitude of 375 meters with a 20% incline, the vineyard is rooted in granite-rich soils.
Grapes were hand-harvested, and destemming was also done entirely by hand to ensure no overripe berries, aiming for optimal ripeness homogeneity. After five days of skin maceration at temperatures of up to 10°C, the berries were gently foot-trodden, followed by alcoholic fermentation for 15 days with light macerations, using the traditional “macaco” method. Upon completing alcoholic fermentation, the wine was transferred to six barrels, where malolactic fermentation occurred, followed by a 22-month maturation period.
Throughout the winemaking and aging process, no mechanical methods were used. After bottling, the wine was aged in the cellar for an additional six months. It is an unfiltered and unfined wine, crafted with the utmost respect for traditional methods.
