O Produtor, tasting note published in July 9th 2022

Deep color. Aroma with floral nuances, black cherries, blueberries, and chocolate in harmony with the toasty notes from the wood. In the mouth, it presents structure, mature flavors, freshness, and challenging tannins that give it a long and flavorful finish, challenging those who taste it.

Quinta de Arcossó

The red wine Quinta de Arcossó Superior Bago a Bago is born in Arcossó – Vidago – Sub-region of Ribeira de Oura, on a 10.5-hectare plot integrated into a 12-hectare vineyard planted in 2003, located on a broad hillside at a medium altitude (375 meters), facing south, with about 20% slope. Soil of granitic origin.

Grapes were harvested on the 28th and 29th of September and on the 3rd of October. Twelve people were needed each day to carry out the entirely manual destemming and to place the required quantity of berries in each of the 500-liter French oak barrels. No berry showing overripening was used, aiming for the berries fermenting to exhibit the highest homogeneity of ripening and consequently the lowest standard deviation of their ripening around the average. Pelicular maceration was carried out before crushing the berries for 5 days at a temperature lower or equal to 10°C. After these 5 days, foot treading was performed, and alcoholic fermentation lasted for 15 days with gentle macerations (using the traditional “macaco”). After the alcoholic fermentation, the caps were placed on each of the barrels, and the wine returned to 6 of the barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation; the wine ages in the same barrels for 22 months. This is a wine for which no mechanical processes were used throughout its winemaking and aging. The resulting 4000 bottles were bottled in June 2022 and will remain in cellar maturation for 6 months. It is a wine that has not been fined or filtered.
