Quinta de Arcossó
The red wine Quinta de Arcossó Grande Reserva is born in Arcossó – Vidago – Sub-region of Ribeira de Oura, on a 10.5-hectare plot integrated into a 12-hectare vineyard planted in 2003, located on a broad hillside at a medium altitude (400 meters), facing south, with about 20% slope. Soil of granitic origin.
The foot treading of the grapes was carried out in 1000 L vats, and they were subsequently placed in old chestnut barrels, over 100 years old, where alcoholic fermentation took place for 15 days. Two completely manual daily punch-downs were performed, and the wine was extracted by gravity. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, after which 50% returned to one of the barrels where alcoholic fermentation took place, and the remaining 50% went to new French oak barrels with a capacity of 500 liters for aging for 12 months. This is a wine in which no mechanical processes were used throughout its vinification and aging process. It is a wine that has not been fined or filtered.
Open and decant the bottle some time before serving. Try it with a posta à Mirandesa, a lamb stew, or even tapenade or aged cheese from Trás-os-Montes.
