Quinta das Brôlhas
Quinta das Brôlhas, situated in the Douro Demarcated Region, consists of two properties with the same name, one on the right bank of the Douro River, near Régua, and the other on the left bank, in Valdigem, where joint winemaking takes place. The 17th Century dwelling house and early 18th Century chapel are located in Valdigem. The winery has the region’s own architecture, with granite presses, chestnut wood barrels and modern stainless steel vats. Part of the production is destined to fortified wine (Port Wine) and the rest is destined to consumption red and white wines. The vineyards are grafted with the best grape varieties of the Region.
The land on these properties is schistose, with small to medium slopes, and south and south/west exposure. The red wines are made from the Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão and Sousão grape varieties, while the white wines come from the Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and Viosinho varieties. These varieties were introduced with the restructuring of the vineyards, which was followed by the modernisation of the winery.
