O Produtor, tasting note published in September 15th 2021

Elegant and fresh, with good concentration, very pure fruit aromas and a long and very fresh finish. Very good balance and acidity, intense and velvety, a red of great elegance.

The grapes are destemmed and crushed in mills for 1 to 3 days before fermentation begins, which takes place in the same mills. Once fermentation is complete, the wines are cleaned in stainless steel vats, where the malolactic fermentation is processed. Aged for 6 months in used 225 litre French oak barrels and over 15 months in stainless steel vats until bottling.

Quinta das Brôlhas

Quinta das Brôlhas, situated in the Douro Demarcated Region, consists of two properties with the same name, one on the right bank of the Douro River, near Régua, and the other on the left bank, in Valdigem, where joint winemaking takes place. The 17th Century dwelling house and early 18th Century chapel are located in Valdigem. The winery has the region’s own architecture, with granite presses, chestnut wood barrels and modern stainless steel vats. Part of the production is destined to fortified wine (Port Wine) and the rest is destined to consumption red and white wines. The vineyards are grafted with the best grape varieties of the Region.
The land on these properties is schistose, with small to medium slopes, and south and south/west exposure. The red wines are made from the Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão and Sousão grape varieties, while the white wines come from the Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and Viosinho varieties. These varieties were introduced with the restructuring of the vineyards, which was followed by the modernisation of the winery.
