O Produtor, tasting note published in May 23rd 2021
Intense red colour with a light purple tinge. On the nose, an extremely rich wine smells of forest fruits, blackberry and raspberry that complement each other as a floral bouquet where violets are dominant and a light touch of pepper. It is a wine characterised by good volume and good persistence in the mouth. Soft and well-integrated tannins give this wine a fresh finish, with notes of dried fruit. After tasting aromas, remnants of chocolate and fruit notes.
The harvest is done at perfect phenolic maturity of each plot separately. Fermentation is carried out in the historic granite mills (lagares), with the traditional process of foot treading, with controlled temperature. Macerations for 15 days with skin contact. The ageing process takes place for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Quinta da Foz
The Quinta da Foz
It consists of 22 ha of old vines and olive groves, with an average age of over 80 years, planted in schist soils, with a maximum altitude of 250m.
To ensure the best use of the land and the best sun exposure, the steep slopes of Quinta da Foz, with slopes that exceed 25% in some areas, have been moulded to implant the vines in three different ways: terraces, traditional terraces and vineyards on the hillside.
Over centuries of cultivation with traditional techniques, the Durians have discovered unique ways of planting their vines, by making the rock on the surface of the arable soil. In turn, the schist guarantees and controls the temperature, thus creating the unique microclimate of the Douro for the development of the vine and roots. The total production of the vines is A-rated, which makes the wines produced at Quinta da Foz high quality. More than 30 varieties are planted at Quinta da Foz, the predominant ones being Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. In winemaking, tradition is associated with innovation, using sophisticated techniques combined with foot treading in granite lagares at a controlled temperature. These are all conditions that together make the great wines of Quinta da Foz.
