O Produtor, tasting note published in October 27th 2023

Pó de Poeira Tinto is a Regional Douro wine. A wine full of character, powerful, typically Douro but keeping the elegance. It presents intense aromas of wild blackberries, dark chocolate and exotic spices. It combines generosity of fruit, great freshness, solid, vigorous, with persistent but round tannins and a very long finish.

Pó de Poeira

Produced on the same slope in the Pinhão river valley (north exposure) as Poeira, it shares much in common with it; both are fresh, elegant, and reflect the personality of their original vineyard each year. However, being mainly produced from younger vines (Touriga Nacional and Souzão), Pó de Poeira has a lighter and more relaxed character.

Pó de Poeira is the second stage of our Douro adventure, which began in 2001 with the purchase of Quinta and the creation of the first Poeira.

It is a personalized wine, with an expressive aroma and a depth and freshness that are characteristic of our wines. Wines from vineyards and land, with minimal oenological intervention in order to express their origin as best as possible.

“It is born in the dust and dirt, in the ruggedness and austerity of the Douro. It is born from the elements and the vineyard. It is born shaped by man because we believe that a wine should not end with an exclamation mark, always leaving questions unanswered…”

Poeira

The farmhouse is situated in the Douro in Provesende, along a hillside in the Pinhão valley, on the right bank of the river of the same name. It has 9 hectares of vineyard, 2 olive groves and 3 hectares of forest. The vineyard has a northern exposure, which becomes a key aspect to the table wine style. Temperatures in the region are always very high in summer, and on a north-facing slope the ripening of the grapes is always slower, better preserving the aromas, flavors and acidity. The ruined building next to the old orange tree has been reclaimed and now serves the house and cellar functions. Right in the middle of the vineyard, set in a breathtaking, intense and breathtaking landscape. The winery is minimalist with four traditional stone wineries (with temperature control) and an old vertical press. It also has an air conditioned cellar for stage barrels with thick shale walls. It is a wine cellar designed to create wines in a very slow and careful way, with everything that is necessary to allow the full expression of our “terroir”. Dust tries to be a balanced and elegant wine. In general the wines of the Douro are supported in the tannin, but the Dust is sustained in the acidity. A very drinkable and appetizing wine when new but at the same time has the capacity to evolve. I intend that each wine be the mirror of the vineyards that give rise to it, maintaining its profile but following the variations that occur in the vineyard year after year. The “dust” is telling the story of my fifth. “Did not want to remain in the roughness of his land and sought in finesse his own character.
