O Produtor, tasting note published in July 9th 2021

An important name in Portuguese wines, Pêra-Manca is the brand that the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida dedicates to exceptional wines. A full-bodied, complex and elegant wine, with an aroma of sultanas and the essences of the ageing woods. Due to the high quality of the tannins and woods used, it is a wine that presents great longevity, needing some time to reveal its full potential.

Pêra-Manca

Pêra-Manca is crafted from the traditional grape varieties Aragonez and Trincadeira, carefully harvested from vines over 30 years old. The grapes, sourced from selected plots, ripen in a balanced manner, preserving the unique aromas and character of the varieties. Once harvested at their ideal ripeness, the grapes are brought to the winery, where they undergo full destemming, rigorous optical selection, and light crushing.

Fermentation takes place in French oak vats with temperature control, followed by extended post-fermentation maceration, ensuring a deep extraction of desired compounds. The wine ages for eighteen months in French oak barrels, followed by bottle aging in the cellars of the Monastery of Cartuxa. Without tartaric stabilization, this is a wine that reveals the essence of its terroir and the elegance of traditional winemaking.
