O Produtor, tasting note published in July 1st 2024
Color: Light ruby.
Aroma: Ripe red fruit with a mineral touch. On the palate, it has excellent acidity that brings freshness, along with a good structure.
Produced by the renowned winemaker Anselmo Mendes, this Vinho Verde is a wine full of freshness.
Pardusco was the name given to red wines with a light color, moderate alcohol content, and good aging potential. In the 14th century, they were exported to England and were not yet called Vinho Verde. Later, to distinguish them, they were referred to as “mature wine from Monção.” This wine is a tribute to that glorious past.
Vinification: Hand-harvested at perfect ripeness. Full destemming and cold skin maceration. Long fermentation at low temperature. Complete malolactic fermentation.
Food Pairing: Ideal with white meat dishes (such as duck or turkey) and aged cheeses.

Anselmo Mendes
Anselmo Mendes was born and grew up in Monção. It was then, as a child, that he became acquainted with the culture of the vine and wine production. The Alvarinho variety, and its wine produced there, immediately became a part of his life, to the extent that, today, Anselmo Mendes and Alvarinho are synonymous.
He graduated in Agro-Industrial Engineering in 1987, at the Higher Education Institute of the Technical University of Lisbon, and post-graduated in Oenology at the Catholic University six years later.
