O Produtor, tasting note published in December 3rd 2023

Pacheca Superior Red presents an intense new ruby colour. It reveals an aroma with strong notes of blackberries and plums, balanced with notes of chocolate coming from the barrels. It shows balance in the mouth with rounded tannins and a long and persistent finish.

Pacheca

This wine is obtained from grapes of the Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacionalvarieties from vineyards planted in Quinta da Pacheca with about 40 years.

Vinification
After careful selection for their best condition, the grapes were harvested into 25kg chests and sent to the winery where they were completely destemmed. Fermentation took place over 9 days in traditional 14 tonne granite stone tanks with gentle treading and pumping over for mantalixivation and extraction of phenolic and aromatic compounds. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation the wine was transferred to stainless steel vats where the malolactic fermentation took place. Afterwards, it aged in new and 2nd year French oak barrels for 12 months.
