O Produtor, tasting note published in January 15th 2022
In 2019, the rainy winter, the dry spring at budbreak, and the warm summer provided the ideal conditions for this "world class wine". The nose is marked by notes of black cherry and tobacco, a slight smoky character, spice and herbs. The structure is the definition of elegance. In the mouth it is fresh, round, with a dry, spicy, long and persistent finish.
The 2019 harvest will be remembered for the lowest yield in the Lagares Museum vineyard on record. The harvest began in the first week of September. The winemaking philosophy for this unique plot, was to convey the expression of the elegance and delicacy of the vineyard in the wine and so the winemaking operations were always minimalist, using only whole bunches with light foot treading in traditional stone lagares and a brief period of maceration before completing the alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels in which the wine aged for 15 months before bottling.

Niepoort Vinhos
The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. The first property in Douro was bought in 1987 and Dirk Niepoort started a new Era in the company with the creation of the first Redoma red in 1991. In the last years Niepoort took on the great challenge of interpreting other soils and climates and acquired two properties in other regions, Dão and Bairrada. Discover the Niepoort Triangle which express the different terroirs: Schist (Douro), Limestone (Bairrada) and Granite (Dão).
