Monte Meão
The Ferreirinha estates are probably the most emblematic in the Douro. Among them, Quinta do Vale Meão has considerable symbolism, as it is an idealized project from scratch, the quinta having been acquired on virgin land.
On its own, Quinta do Vale Meão is truly one of Portugal’s most interesting and coveted wines. It deserves to be highlighted for the quality it offers in every vintage in which it is marketed.
The winemaking process
After being crushed, the grapes undergo a thermal shock followed by foot crushing for four hours in granite presses. After this process, the grapes are transferred to small French oak barrels where they ferment for around 10 days. The wine is aged for 15 months in 225-litre used French oak barrels.
