O Produtor, tasting note published in November 10th 2012

Aroma to bergamot, with notes of violets, blueberries, forest, balsamic and aromatic herbs, nuances of wood and spices. In the mouth it is complex with notes of blackberries, blueberries and balsamic with volume in a firm and elegant structure.

Monte Cascas

Vinha da Carpanha, in the streets of Penalva do Castelo, in the center of Dão, everyone knows Mr. Francisco by two simple things: the temper and the grapes. The temper is rough and difficult to treat, the grapes are sweet and treated as if they were family. After hearing this story, the winemakers at Casca Wines lost no time. They found this grapevine in the center of Penalva. A true Old Vine, miraculously planted in a clay soil nesga. All different, all good and all unique. With a simple handshake (and the promise of a few bottles), Mr. Francisco agreed to sell the treasure of his bunches, allowing us to treat the grapes with the usual care and pour his juice into six good barrels. Two years later this wine was born.
Thank you! To Mr. Francisco, for never ceasing to cultivate a single vineyard and for accepting to sell us such special grapes.
