Massolino
A historic Barolo for us: the Margheria is synonymous with elegance and minerality.
The Barolo DOCG Margheria extracts much of its character from the calcareous soil, with a slightly higher percentage of sand compared to our other subzones.
Produced for the first time in 1985, like the great Barolo from Serralunga, it has significant aging potential.
Made with Nebbiolo grapes from vineyards with an average age of 40 years, located in Serralunga d’Alba, at an altitude of 280 m above sea level.
Vinification and aging: traditional Barolo with long fermentation and maceration in oak tanks at around 30°C; aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for up to 30 months and refined in bottle for about a year in cool, dark places.
A wine that encapsulates the entire history of this terroir and expresses its qualities best when paired with rich dishes, such as roasted red meat or stewed game. Excellent also with medium to long-aged cheeses. It is advisable to decant.
