O Produtor, tasting note published in October 20th 2023

Intense garnet color, on the nose, there is a great concentration of black fruits, eucalyptus leaf, and some spice notes from barrel aging. Full-bodied on the palate with velvety tannins.

Marquês de Borba

One of the most iconic brands of João Portugal Ramos, Marquês de Borba combines the tradition of Alentejo with tremendous quality, a presence felt since the brand’s first harvest in 1997. The name arises from the fortunate coincidence of João Portugal Ramos’ vineyards and winery being located in the Borba sub-region, and his uncle holding the noble title Marquês de Borba, a title created in 1811.

The red wine comes from vines over 35 years old. The year 2021 was very favorable for vegetative development. The 2021 wines are complete in terms of concentration, balance, and freshness.

The grapes are harvested manually in small 15 kg boxes to preserve the quality of the fruit. They are then destemmed and carefully selected manually on the sorting table. After crushing, they are foot-trodden in marble lagares for 4 to 5 days, then transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation is completed. Aging for 12 months in American and French oak barrels. Bottled in October 2023.
