O Produtor, tasting note published in May 28th 2019

It is a ruby violet wine, of medium concentration, with fresh red fruit in great plan, complexity and elegance from the short ageing in French oak, are balanced in order to show a Douro character, more appealing, uncomplicated and informal. Made to be consumed young but with ageing potential. Silky-textured mouth, vinous, polished tannins.

Maria Izabel

The ripening phase occurred slowly and allowed for a start of harvesting in mid-September. The grapes were harvested, with a rigorous selection in the vineyard and another selection in the winery. Fermented using partial destemming (30%) for a period of 15 days at controlled temperature, allowing the controlled extraction of fresher colour and aroma compounds, it completed malolactic fermentation in November in stainless steel. Aged for about 6 months in French oak barrels, short maturation in the barrel to provide a fresher and more complex wine.

Quinta Maria Izabel

Cradle of what we are and what we do: from the river were made the mountains and the people who breathe this origin.
The Douro to lose sight of: this is the landscape, this is the framework of our wines. Quinta Maria Izabel extends over 130 hectares in one of the most privileged areas of the Douro region. An impetus transformed into a great project. An idea that reveals itself to be, after all, more than a Brazilian dream in Portuguese lands. Welcome to an idea transformed into a great project.
