Lua Cheia em Vinhas Velhas
Region: D.O.C. Douro
Located in the northeast of Portugal, in the Douro river basin, the region is surrounded by mountains that provide unique mesological and climatic characteristics. It spans an area of about 250,000 ha and is divided into three naturally distinct sub-regions.
Soil: Schist
Climate: Hot and dry, with large thermal amplitudes.
Winemaking:
The winemaking process began with the destemming and crushing of the grapes, followed by a 12-hour pre-fermentation maceration at 34ºC to maximize the action of endogenous enzymes. Selected yeasts were used, and the alcoholic fermentation lasted a minimum of 10 days, with temperature control between 22ºC and 24ºC.
Aging:
The wine aged for 12 months in oak barrels. After bottling, it underwent an unusual aging at sea aboard the Pascoal Atlântico ship for 135 days.
Food pairing:
Ideal for dishes with elaborated and sophisticated meats, as well as intense cheeses.
