O Produtor, tasting note published in June 15th 2017
The 2014 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon Inglenook reflects a very pure composition containing only small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and just a touch of Merlot. From this exceptional year emerges a smooth and generous palate with very fine dusty tannins and exemplary balance. As heavy and voluptuous as its predecessor, the flavours and fragrance of this vintage lean more towards black fruits and spiced wood. Cassis, blackberries, plums and blackcurrants provide juicy, mouth-filling flavours, while distinct notes of cigar box, oak, graphite and earthy spices create aromatic accents that are bound to evolve and become even more intense with bottle age. However, the impressive density and texture already create ample appeal.
HISTORY
Previously, this wine was known as CASK Cabernet Sauvignon. Inglenook will now refer to this wine as Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a tribute to the historic, world-renowned Inglenook 1941 vintage produced by John Daniel Jr. from vines brought to the Inglenook Estate from Bordeaux by Gustave Niebaum. Today, this estate-grown wine is blended with the finest batches of Cabernet Sauvignon remaining after Rubicon’s highly selective blending.

Inglenook
Inglenook covers approximately 1,700 contiguous acres with almost 235 acres devoted to vineyards. Variations in the Estate’s topography reflect the great diversity of the Napa Valley – from clayey, well-drained soils at its rear to an expanse of vineyards with deeper but finer soils located in front of the Chateau – and contribute to the uniqueness of Inglenook’s terroir, a complex term that incorporates the natural growing conditions of the specific site as well as the winemaker’s signature – with some ineffable quality stemming from both – that distinguish the wine’s personality as unique. With patient determination and relentless negotiations over nearly four decades, the Coppolas are fulfilling the vow they made in 1975 by acquiring the Inglenook name and trademark. Inglenook – land, name and spirit – is whole again.
