Intense red colour. Aroma of wild fruits and black pepper, fine spices. Long and persistent finish.
Hugo Mendes castelão is an intense wine with an irresistible flavour. Fermentation through the must, the wine has always shown itself to be austere, vegetal and very expressive, with signs of robustness. It fermented 40% in barrels to give it mouth and structure. Bottled early to evolve in bottle.

Born and raised in Ribeira de Santarém, Hugo Mendes studied Biotechnological Engineering but his passion for wines spoke louder and since the 2006 vintage he has been fully dedicated to oenology. A lover of communicating art to consumers, he is a regular presence on social networks. Since 2008 he feeds a blog dedicated to uncomplicate oenology for oenophiles. He became a producer in his own name at the 2016 harvest, and for that he carried out the first crowdfunding, in Portugal, to finance a wine.
