Violet red colour. Intense aroma, fruity, an excellent combination with French Oak wood. Round, soft and concentrated flavour, with a medium finish.

Horácio Simões

Fermented with stalk and film in stone presses, without temperature control. The pasta is pressed and this wine is separated from the press. Malolactic fermentation takes place later, when the wine leaves the press in cement tanks. Ageing in French oak barrels for 9 months later in 3 months in the bottle. Expected longevity: If stored in good conditions it has great possibilities to improve for a few more years.

Casa Agricola Horácio Simões

The centuries-old Casa Agrícola Horácio Simões is not the largest producer in the Setúbal Peninsula, but it is certainly one of the oldest and most reputable in the region. It is here in perfect balance a traditional and almost handmade approach of the ancestors and a thirst of the contemporary generation to try new things.
The winery at Quinta do Anjo is small and disguised as a villa with a shop and coffee shop, where locals like to stay in the shade in the patio for an afternoon drink. When passing in the street you don’t even notice the winery, especially if the gate is closed.
The house has about 40 hectares of own vineyard and has another 30 hectares of partners’ vineyard, besides some grapes bought in the region. The annual production is about 300 thousand litres of still wines, Moscatel de Setúbal and Moscatel Roxo.
