O Produtor, tasting note published in December 15th 2022

It presents an intense ruby colour, an aroma with mentholated notes, nuances of ripe peppers and forest berries. A mouth full of volume, balanced acidity and intense tannins well integrated into the wine structure provide a long and persistent finish.

Herdade do Gamito

Gamito. A single word to describe this single-varietal wine from the Herdade with the same name. It is beyond the Tagus, in a noble cradle resting between gentle valleys and a welcoming sun that this wine with a strong personality is born, a celebration of the richness of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety.
Aged for 12 months in oak barrels.

Herdade do Gamito

Herdade do Gamito is located in Nordeste Alentejo, 4 kilometres from Crato, the historical town that was the headquarters of the Order of Malta in Portugal. With 27 hectares of vineyard, it is owned by the descendants of an old traditional family, with centuries-old roots in the region.
Stories and characters from this golden past inhabited the imagination of Gonçalo Sá da Bandeira, who as a child dreamt of recovering his ancestral lands to live on. A desire, which allied to his love for the land and passion for wine, led him to buy from his father a small plot of land, which remained of the family’s agricultural heritage.
It was with a lot of work, persistence and the help of his wife and friends that he expanded the boundaries of his property and started making wine. First in an artisanal way, later adapting tradition to the demands of modern oenology.
The Herdade do Gamito wines were born from the will of a boy who became a man but never stopped dreaming. Dreams that we share through wines produced with soul and a deeply felt passion.
