O Produtor, tasting note published in August 27th 2020

Clean-looking color, intense ruby color. Complex aroma of ripe black fruits, chocolate and spices. Firm tannins, complexity and elegance with a long and harmonious finish.

Herdade de Ceuta

In the plains bathed by the great Alqueva lake, we find this property with centuries of history that invites us, through its fullness, to savor this wine. The Herdade de Ceuta wine evokes a unique sense of charm for the ageless landscape, transporting us to unique moments.

The climate is warm and temperate. There is much more rainfall in winter than in summer, with an average temperature of 16.5 °C.

Vinification and aging: Manual harvest in crates during the coolest hours of the day. Destemming, crushing, alcoholic fermentation in lagares and stainless steel tanks with controlled temperature (21-24 ºC). Aging in French oak barrels for 12 months. After bottling, there were an additional 6 months of bottle aging.

It wonderfully pairs with grilled or roasted meat dishes, game, pâtés, and aged cheeses.

Elite Vinhos

Our company is located near the medieval village of Monsaraz, one of the oldest settlements in Portugal, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. As a family-owned business, we take pride in producing wines from indigenous grape varieties that are perfectly adapted to local conditions, cultivated on our 110 hectares of vineyards. We place great importance on every intervention in the annual vine cycle, from the first pruning to the harvest, limiting the use of pesticides and utilizing all available resources to maximize sustainability. With this philosophy of a strong connection to our origins and utmost respect for nature, we aim to create wines with their own identity and authentic style.

Our quality philosophy and respect for our ecosystem also apply to our winery. We only vinify our own grapes, using the best of both traditional practices and modern technologies. We ferment with temperature control, but otherwise, interventions in the winemaking process are kept to a minimum. We want our wines to be true expressions of the grape varieties and our terroir.
