O Produtor, tasting note published in September 27th 2021

Clear wine, deep violet-red, aromas of plum, cherry, fig, chocolate, spices, and floral notes of violet. Complex, structured, fresh, and elegant, with toasted oak barrel notes, smoky notes, rich tannins, and a long finish, revealing all the potential for aging and cellaring.

Herdade das Servas

Herdade das Servas is equipped with the most modern technology for reception, vinification, aging, and maturation, resulting in wines that combine tradition and modernity. The vineyards are planted in red soils derived from brown or crystalline limestones, with patches of schist, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with high thermal amplitudes and hot, dry summers. The connection of the vineyards to the wine is led by winemaker Renato Neves, in close collaboration with Luís Serrano Mira. After the necessary green interventions during the vegetative cycle, the grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in crates.

Vinification: The grapes are selected on the sorting table, destemmed, followed by pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation takes place in a lagar and stainless steel tank with temperature control. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine ages for 18 months in new French oak barrels. After bottling, it rests in the bottle for 24 months. To preserve all its qualities, it has not been stabilized and may naturally create sediment.

A wine for connoisseurs. It superbly accompanies red meats, game, intense cheeses, and cured sausages.

Serrano Mira

Serrano Mira is the surname resulting from the union of two families who have been producing wine in Alentejo for 13 generations. Serrano Mira is also the name of the wine group led by Luis Serrano Mira, which includes the Alentejo estate Herdade das Servas and Casa da Tapada in the Vinhos Verdes region.

Luis Serrano Mira was born into a family of producers with a strong connection to rural property and wine. He grew up observing their practices and proudly paying attention to the teachings passed down by great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents. From an early age, he became aware that nothing is achieved without hard work and sacrifice. He believes that dedication and commitment are key factors for the quality and consistency of a project, reaching their highest potential when there is a symbiosis between inherited knowledge and innovations introduced in the present. He considers this to be the mark of his time and the legacy he is leaving for future generations.

The Serrano Mira family’s connection to this universe dates back to the year 1667, as evidenced by two amphorae that have been passed down from generation to generation. This heritage, upon reaching the hands of Luis Serrano Mira, inspired him to conduct an exhaustive historical survey, portrayed and documented in the book “The History of Vine and Wine in Alentejo – Legacy of a Family Producing Since 1667.” These two wine vessels have eight-pointed stars engraved on them, now used in the Serrano Mira logo, symbolizing good fortune, regeneration, abundance, and protection of crops, as well as truth and hope.
