O Produtor, tasting note published in August 16th 2023

Delicate and rich nose with notes of cocoa, pepper, cherry, flint, and wild herbs. On the palate, it reveals several dimensions: tense, voluminous, structured, fresh, with silky tannins and great persistence.

Grande Druida

This first edition marks the return of the Baga grape variety to these vineyards, located at 500 meters of altitude on the right bank of the Dão River. The granite-origin soils, rich in quartz and clay, give these grapes a special character. The climate is characterized by cold, windy, and humid autumns and winters, mild springs, and hot, dry summers.

The climatic year was generally dry and hot. The region’s high thermal amplitudes allowed for a slow ripening process, preserving great freshness and acidity in these grapes, which were handpicked and selected in early September.

Vinification: Blend of Baga (30%), Alfrocheiro (50%), Touriga Nacional (20%). Fermentation in lagar with 40% whole clusters.
Aging: This red aged in a single 1500-liter oak barrel, followed by bottle aging.
Winemaker: Nuno Mira do Ó.

Analytical Characteristics: pH: 3.66 | Total acidity: 6.15 g/L | Volatile acidity: 0.69 g/L | Residual sugar: 1.8 g/L

This wine has aging potential in the bottle. Store bottles lying down in a cool place.

Mira do Ó

Old vines, century-old vines, hillside vines, lowland vines, clay or stony vines, all produce different wines.
It has been our mission to interpret all the differences that exist in the vines and transpose them into the different wines. Our major focus is on old vines of Baga, in the case of the reds, and Bical in the case of the whites, although in some vineyards there are blends with other local grape varieties.
The oenology is minimalist in terms of intervention but quite differentiated and adapted to each of the different vineyards, i.e., the different plots also have a different approach in the winery in order to better reveal what we believe to be their purest expression.
We want wines that are tense, fresh and complex, with a great connection to the terroir and a unique personality and that, fundamentally, will give us pleasure for many years.
