O Produtor, tasting note published in May 28th 2021

Ruby coloured notes and aromatic intensity of ripe fruit, with a light menthol note, which makes the whole elegant and harmonious. The excellent structure and the balance between its fine tannins and acidity, guarantee it personality and a long life. Long and mineral finish. Concentration and delicacy are its luxury notes. Wine that deserves a careful tasting, without haste.

Freixo

Still one year before the harvest and winemaking, the grapes from the different grape varieties that make up the Family Collection, were duly selected and accompanied according to the oenological purpose. These grapes harvested in their ideal state of ripeness in boxes of 20 Kg were vinified separately. The whole process was carried out by gravity for the fermentation vats, and this took place over 20 days with a prolonged maceration that provides this wine with unique characteristics of ripe fruit. Its 14 months ageing in new French wood gives it a great aromatic range and a remarkable balance throughout its long life. Bottle maturation takes place over 8 months.

Quinta Do Freixo

The 300ha of Herdade do Freixo, includes the vineyards and the underground cellar.
In these Alentejo properties, located in the small village of Freixo, northwest of the Municipality of Redondo and covered by the Municipal Ecological Reserve (REN), a quiet landscape stands out, with asymmetries in color, relief and textures of the land, provided by different agricultural activities such as livestock grazing, arable crops and the area of montado and cork oak, included in the network of environmental protection and enhancement.
This landscape eden, whose essence is respect for nature, seasonally receives flocks of migratory species and the very rare Black Stork, which is observed in Portugal, only in the most interior regions, inhospitable, isolated and with little human disturbance. A thousand-year-old olive tree estate surrounds the irrigation dam, forming our Olive Garden, but we can also glimpse these trees that tell hundreds or thousands of years of history throughout the estate. They have been able to resist the passing of time, to surprise us today with their uniqueness and magnificence.
