Maçanita
A regional Alentejo wine. Made from typically Alentejo grape varieties, with minimal oenological intervention to highlight the true aromas and flavors of the region.
Concept
It was in 2007 that we produced the first Fitapreta Tinto with the mission of creating a wine based on the original Alentejo formula. A red wine made solely from Alentejo grapes. The choice of Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, and Trincadeira was an obvious one, but over time we discovered that the old vines revealed other, fresher, and more elegant varieties that once dominated the Alentejo. So, little by little, we incorporated these varieties, starting with Castelão, then Moreto, and now Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro, and Tinta Carvalha, planted in granite soils. It is neither ancient nor contemporary; it is our own – O ILUMINISTA.
Viticulture
The grapes are cultivated either under organic production or under Certified Integrated Production without the use of herbicides, with most of the vines being unirrigated. Our vineyards are also certified within the Alentejo sustainability program.
Vine age
Average age of 30 years. The vineyards are cultivated in very poor soils of schist or granite origin, resulting in naturally concentrated grapes. The aromatic profile is further enhanced by cultural practices such as leaf thinning, pruning, and green bunch removal.
Winemaking
Manual nighttime harvest, with selection on the sorting table. The filling of the fermentation tanks is done by gravity. Spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. “Cuivason” for 20 days.
Aging
12 months, with 50% in French oak barrels and 50% in tanks.
Allergens information
