Herdade do Esporão

The Esporão Reserva is the wine that best represents the spirit of the Herdade do Esporão. It was the first wine made by Esporão, from the 1985 harvest. It comes exclusively from our grapes, produced organically. The diversity of Herdade do Esporão, combined with the unique characteristics of the grape varieties, soils, vineyards, and people who consistently make this wine over the years, results in a rich, intense wine, but always harmonious. Label illustrated by Eduardo Aires.

Vinification: Each grape variety is harvested separately, seeking its optimal ripening moment. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel, concrete tanks, or marble lagares. After pressing, malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.

Aging: 12 months in new (20%) and used (80%) American and French oak barrels. After bottling, at least another 6 months of bottle aging. Bottling starts in April 2024.

Winemakers: Sandra Alves and João Ramos.
