O Produtor, tasting note published in July 3rd 2023

Aroma: Notes of wild berries, chocolate, and spices. Secondary aromas stand out in relation to tertiary ones.
Palate: Excellent mouthfeel, with well-present tannins that have been correctly worked during aging. It presents high concentration and persistence, with a long but pleasantly silky finish. The natural freshness it presents makes the whole harmonious and gives the wine the desired sophistication.

Em Campo

A wine with great color intensity, an explosive force on the palate, coordination, and agility of aromas on the nose that allows for a victory with each sip, making it a first-rate wine.

Vinification: All grape varieties are harvested manually in 400 kg crates at the entrance of the winery. The grapes are fully destemmed and crushed, followed by alcoholic fermentation in cement tanks with controlled temperature (25 – 28ºC). Varieties are vinified separately. Touriga Franca, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon had a post-fermentation maceration period of 12 days. The other varieties did not undergo maceration.

Aging: After malolactic fermentation, all varieties were aged separately in French oak barrels from different cooperages for 15 months. All wood used is from the second and third use. No new barrels are used. After aging in wood, the blend was defined, with 90% of wine aged in barrels and 10% of wine without wood. Bottled in July 2023.

Food Pairings: It pairs perfectly with well-spiced meat dishes, whether baked or stewed. For a dessert with soft cheese (e.g., Serra da Estrela or Azeitão), it’s the perfect match.

Márcio Sampaio

Márcio Sampaio on the field was born from the possibility of aligning personal taste and professional success in different fields. After several seasons of scouting, strategically aligned grape varieties of superior quality are now on the field, enabling high-performance outcomes.

Founded in 1775, Quinta do Casal Branco, which for four centuries was a Royal Reserve, now sprawls across 1,100 hectares. Of these, 119 hectares are occupied by vineyards on heathland soils. The property of the Braamcamp Sobral Lobo de Vasconcelos family is one of the most emblematic estates on the south bank of the Tagus River.

The first cellar at Quinta do Casal Branco dates back to 1817. The early 20th century was marked by a profound intervention led by D. Manuel Braamcamp Sobral throughout the property, with the introduction of steam machinery, planting of new grape varieties, modernization, and expansion of the cellar, as well as other infrastructures.

The significant investment in viticulture and wine production initiated a tradition marked by innovation, quality, and consistency in the wines produced to this day. Quinta do Casal Branco is a privileged place to enjoy multiple wine-related experiences.
