O Produtor, tasting note published in May 30th 2020
Wine with a dense and deep red color. Intense, concentrated and complex aroma, dominated by ripe black fruits such as blackberry, cassis, gooseberry, floral aromas, violet, and aromas of exotic woods. Its complexity, which tends to increase with time, comes from the aromas originated by its "élevage" in barrels. Acidity present, firm but mature tannins, well involved with the body and volume of this wine. All these characteristics, combined with its retronasal aroma, give rise to a full wine, intense and of great final persistence.
Vinification: The grapes of the vineyards, most of which are very old with about 100 years, are subjected to a sorting / choice on arrival at the winery, where they are selected and later destemmed. The pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature is followed with roasted step in stainless steel mills. They are then taken to stainless steel vats with a controlled temperature between 25 and 28º where the alcoholic fermentation ends. During this procedure the usual “reassembly” and “deslagging” work is carried out, aiming at the strictly selective and restricted extraction of the desired constituents. Winemaking ends with post fermentation maceration. The masses remain in contact with the must for up to 18 days. Stage: In barrels of 225 and 300 liters of French oak for a period of about 18 months, according to each batch and caste. Use of 70% of new oak barrels and 30% of second and third year oak barrels.

Duorum Vinhos
Two Winemakers who have made history in Portugal over the last few decades, in two regions that the world recognises as being of high quality and having strong personality, the Douro and Alentejo, meet again in a project thought out for the Douro, in the regions of the Cima Corgo and Hight Douro, two exceptional and protected terroirs. Thus, Duorum is born, a project “from two”, envisaged and brought to life in the age-old vineyards of the Douro.
Duorum Wines started in January 2007 as an expression of wishes of João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco wishes to join their activities as professional winemakers in one wine production project from Douro region, with unique characteristics and an international dimension.
