O Produtor, tasting note published in August 29th 2022
Color: Intense dark red tones.
Aroma: Complex and intense aroma of black plums and wild berries, esteva flowers and the freshness of eucalyptus. It shows complexity enhanced by meticulous extraction, with a slight dry character typical of the Dona Matilde terroir.
Taste: In the mouth, it is voluminous, with plenty of aromatic exuberance and excellent acidity, yet very elegant, resulting in perfect balance and a long, intense finish.
In the 1940s, a boy watches his grandfather plant a vineyard on the family property, on the banks of the Douro River. Seventy years later, that boy, now also a grandfather, creates a very special wine made from grapes precisely harvested from those 90-year-old vines.
A blend with over 30 traditional Douro grape varieties, some of which remain an absolute mystery, giving the red wine Dona Matilde Vinha do Pinto a unique and incomparable personality.
Winemaking: João Pissarra.

Quinta da Dona Matilde
The Dona Matilde estate is one of the oldest properties in the Douro region. Previously known as Enxodreiro, the quinta was part of the first demarcation, ordered by the Marquis of Pombal in 1756, and was part of the properties with authorisation to produce “feitoria wines”, a synonymous expression of the best wines, those intended for export. Even today the entire vineyard has letter A, the highest classification in the region, used in the Port wine sector.
