O Produtor, tasting note published in May 23rd 2019
It displays a ruby color, with an intense and complex aroma of ripe fruits such as plum and fig, complemented by cedar notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with good acidity and present yet very elegant tannins, achieving perfect balance and delivering a long and intense finish.
The Dona Matilde Reserva red wine is crafted from traditional grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Amarela. It is vinified using the ancestral foot-treading method in traditional granite lagares. The wine ages for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Quinta da Dona Matilde
The Dona Matilde estate is one of the oldest properties in the Douro region. Previously known as Enxodreiro, the quinta was part of the first demarcation, ordered by the Marquis of Pombal in 1756, and was part of the properties with authorisation to produce “feitoria wines”, a synonymous expression of the best wines, those intended for export. Even today the entire vineyard has letter A, the highest classification in the region, used in the Port wine sector.
