O Produtor, tasting note published in August 12th 2020
Deep and complex with aromas and flavours reminiscent of Asian spices, lavender and cedar with a deep concentration of black fruit, cocoa and an elegant finish.
A very wet winter and spring, seasonal rainfall was twice the historical average. With soil water reserves full and warm temperatures in May and June, vines grew quickly and luxuriantly.
Several significant heat waves were recorded in June, July, August and September, with a record high of 112 F on 1 September.
Ripening was rapid and even. The severe pre-harvest heat wave induced significant crop loss. To maintain quality, fruit selection was critical and resulted in our smallest crop since 1996.

Dominus Estate
We produce wines that reflect the purity, complexity and character of grapes grown exclusively from the Napanook vineyard. This unique provenance qualifies our wines as estate bottled wines, a designation rarely found.
The character of a wine is defined by the grapes at harvest. With our extensive vineyard efforts, once we have the grapes in hand, our winemaking practice is minimalist:
Thorough selection of the clusters by hand.
Optical sorting of the berries.
Gentle pumping-over – delicately extracts aromas, colour, tannin, and reveals the personality of each blend.
Manual stacking from barrel to barrel every three months, using the skiff.
